Christ Community Church: Our Start

Christ Community Church: Our Start

In October of 2009, a church plant launch team started forming and meeting in a downtown Shelbyville retail store owned by BJ Andriot.  We focused on the teachings of Jesus and the scriptures, building relationships, sharing meals, serving others, and praying (Acts 2:42.)  As we continued into mid 2010, the team decided on a name: Christ Community Church (CCC.)  We would continue to engage and intersect people with the good news of Jesus through our mission of loving God, loving people, and loving/serving our community.  It’s been an exciting and challenging journey, but we have much to be thankful over.

A few monthly highlights…

7-2010:  Christ Community Church incorporates & affirms a budget goal to give 50% of all we receive to local/state/international missions.

8-2010:  CCC launches our church covenant at the Webb House.  This includes worship & prayer, Baptisms, sharing the Lord’s Supper, and affirming our Pastor/Elder Council.  Financial and Hospitality Teams are organized & CCC hires Katie Gaither as Administrative Assistant.  CCC begins to financially support and serve on a monthly basis its designated partners:  Operation Care, Open Door of Hope (Men’s Homeless Shelter), ALC Pregnancy Resource Center, Austin Willard – a missionary sent to the University of Kentucky Campus & the International Mission Board through SBC & KBC.
