Your children will learn:
- God chose Elisha
- Elijah went to heaven
Monday: Read & Do Read 1 Kings 19:19-21 and 2 Kings 2:1-14. Ask, “What was Elisha doing when Elijah found him? What did Elijah do? What did Elisha do? Where did Elijah go? How did he get there?
Tuesday: Rest While resting, talk with your child about Elisha. Say, “Elisha was a prophet. A prophet is someone who hears God talk to them and tells people what God said. God chose Elisha.” Ask your child, “Do you think God chose you? What do you think God wants you to be?”
Wednesday: Play When your child invites a friend over to play, encourage them to let their friend choose the activity to do. This is one thing that a good friend can do. Remind them that Elijah and Elisha were good friends, too.
Thursday: Pray & Praise Have a special pray and praise time after dinner tonight. Pray and ask God to help you put Him first in your life. Praise Him for giving you everything you need. Then, say the memory verse together as a family.
Friday: Art Elijah and Elisha were special friends. Make friendship bracelets together to give to your friends. String colorful beads on pipe cleaners. Coil the pipe cleaners around your child’s wrist to form a bracelet. Have your child make one for themselves and make another bracelet to give a friend.
Saturday: Just for Parents This is the story of a man who cam to the end of his life knowing God. Elijah knew God’s provision when he had nothing. He knew His companionship and comfort when he was alone and afraid. But Elijah would not have know God the way he did if everything had always gone right for him. What if he hadn’t challenged King Ahab? Then he would have never known how God provided for him. What if he had never felt alone and afraid? Then he would have never know how God was always with him. Elijah had the opportunity to pass on all he knew about God to Elisha. You have the opportunity to pass on all that you know about God to children. Praise God that you can know him just like Elijah did.
