Church Planting Internship

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)

For God’s mission to continue, Christ had to come. If creation was to be restored, Christ had to come and dwell. And the world watched in awe as he lived his life full of grace and full of truth.

There’s a lot to be said about the importance of dwelling in furthering the mission of God. Dwelling allows the people to see the gospel transformation in our lives. Dwelling gives God the margin to speak the truth clearly to us. Dwelling develops trust.

And that’s why Christ Community Church is piloting a church planting internship in partnership with the KBC.

We believe that Christ Community is called to be a church that plants churches. We’re especially passionate about planting healthy churches in the suburban and rural counties of Kentucky’s Golden Triangle (the region formed by drawing a line from Louisville to Lexington to Cincinnati.)

Did you know that 88% of that region is unchurched?

We realize that seeing people and communities transformed by the gospel will require us to join Jesus in dwelling. We need to dwell both in our calling and in the communities we are called to.

The church planting internship will be a 12 month internship that engages the head, heart, and hands with two tiers of participants.

Tier 1 is open to anyone who wants to dwell in the possibility of church planting. Maybe you’re not sure if church planting is for you. Maybe you see yourself being part of a launch team, but not the planter. Maybe God is calling you to more and you aren’t sure what that looks like. Maybe you are graduating college and you desire to integrate your faith with your career. Tier 1 is for you!

Tier 1 will have a weekly meeting at Christ Community to engage the head in thinking about church planting and leadership as we hear from church planters and ministry leaders from around the state. Also, we will engage the heart at a monthly meeting hosted in a church planters home. We want them to dwell with the Lord seeking His calling on their life and how church planting may be a part of that.

Tier 2 will include accepted applicants who are called to church planting and include a small stipend. Tier 2 participants will encompass all of Tier 1 while adding a missional component in an agreed upon community. Tier 2 participants will be laying the foundation for church planting in real communities. We want them to dwell in real communities and discern how we can share with them the God who is both grace and truth.

Imagine if 1% of that 88% were reached through new church starts. Imagine if 2,500 people had their old lives replaced with new life in Christ and became light bearers in their community. Imagine if even some of those 2,500 changed their family trees forever and became the first of many generations who would place their faith in Christ who came, dwelt, and lived in grace and truth.

Come join the adventure.
