We're excited to send 29 (!) people to GAP in Eastern Kentucky this weekend - it's going to be incredible! You can still be involved by praying these 7 Scripture over the team as they GO serve this Saturday.
...for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. (1 Corinthians 16:9 ESV)
Pray for opportunities to share Jesus with men, women and children. Pray for relationships to develop “open doors” for more opportunities to share the gospel in the future. Ask God to go before the team members against any “adversaries” they might face.
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be all glory forever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21 ESV)
Ask God to give each mission team member confidence in knowing that God is “equipping them with everything good” to accomplish his purpose. Pray for the good works of the team to bring glory to Jesus.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (Acts 1:8 ESV)
Pray for the team members to trust the Holy Spirit inside of them to guide them and give them “power” in situations where they feel powerless. Pray that those they interact with see Jesus in them.
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:6-7 ESV)
Pray against any “fear” that might come into the hearts and minds of team members. Pray that fear would be replaced with a “spirit of power, love and self-control.”
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace (1 Peter 4:10 ESV)
Ask God to make clear to team members the gifts, abilities, and skills they have.
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. (James 1:2-3 ESV)
Pray that any “trials” the team faces would quickly become opportunities to increase their faith and produce “steadfastness” in their faith. May the team members’ faith grow as a result of the trip.
And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. (Acts 4:29-31 ESV)
Pray for boldness of team members. Ask God, as a result of their boldness, to do great things amongst his people. Ask that the name of Jesus be made great wherever they go!
