Joining Jesus in making disciples begins in our home with our families. Since God provides clear instruction for parents to pass on their faith to their children (Proverbs 22:6, Psalms 78:1-8), dedications are an important first milestone in a child's faith. A child dedication is a public committment and celebration of a parents' intent to raise their child in the truth of God's Word. Parents commit themselves to following Jesus and living out an authentic faith that encourages their child to make their own decision to trust Jesus as their personal Savior. It is an opportunity for parents to acknowledge that their child is a gift from God and entrust their heart to the Lord. Through dedication, the church is able to commit to partnering with families in discipleship through encouragement, accountability, and support.
