Preparing Our Hearts: Community Kids

Do your kids love to be in the kitchen? Many kids love helping prepare something delicious to eat! It is a great opportunity to learn that having a plan or a recipe usually helps build the meal we hope to enjoy. This month in Community Kids, we will learn that the stories of the Old Testament prophets are like a cookbook that helped people prepare for the Savior that God would send one day. Even though there’s no exact recipe, kids will find that they can prepare themselves for a loving relationship with God when they 1) trust God, 2) talk to God, 3) listen to God, and 4) leave the results to God. Our memory verse for November is from Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Nov. 6: God prepared Elijah and the widow at Zarephath to trust Him. (1 Kings 17:8-16; Mark 12:38-44)

Nov. 13:God prepared Hannah to talk to Him and Samuel to listen to Him. (1 Samuel 1:4-20; Psalm 16; 1 Samuel 3:1-10, 19-21; Proverbs 2:1-5)

Nov. 20: God prepared the people for a Savior through Jeremiah. (Jeremiah 33:14-16; Luke 21:29-33)

Nov. 27: Serve as a family on Love Shelbyville Sunday.
