MMMM…. Monday, Martin Luther King Jr, Melissa, the Mission

Psalm 43:3

This passage was in my morning reading on this Monday and it so reminded me of where God is leading our church family right now I just had to share!

Send your light and your truth; let them lead me. Let them bring me to your holy mountain, to your dwelling place. (Psalm 43:3)

Speaking of mountains, sit with this quote from Martin Luther King Jr's last message "I've been to the moutaintop" which he shared the day before his assassination.

"Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord."

May we live with the same kind of "dangerous unselfishness" Dr. King spoke of and lived out - especially on this day we remember his life.

Loved celebrating with Melissa yesterday!

What an honor to hear Melissa's story yesterday! And to celebrate her next step in baptism! Yes, Lord! Melissa, it's incredible what God is doing in your life - praying for you and Chris as you keep walking with him!

We're gonna get GOING the next couple weeks!

This team leaves Friday (watch your text for a way to pray for them!), then, next Sunday, you can hear about all of our other mission trip opportunities at 8:30 am Sunday morning (Contact Katie for more details!), and then Jan 28 is the first LOVE SHELBYVILLE DAY of 2024!

Time to get GOING OUTSIDE in 2024! Get in where you fit in! (And even where you don't, but the catchy phrase sounds better.)

Worship was 🔥 on a really cold day!

I don't write this because the band was awesome or the transitions were smooth or any other production oriented measure. I write that because a lot of us put our voices together and reminded each other, "How Great is our God?!?!" (Punctuation added for emphasis!)

On a really cold day, a lot of you made it a priority to come worship God with your church family. Let's do it again next week, what do you say?

2 things in February you need to get signed up for

Believe it or not, February isn't that far away! And with February comes 2 things I don't want you to miss. 1) Our next round of classes to help your marriage is a financial class! You don't have to be married or even be in financial crisis to take this class! You just have to have a desire to be a good steward of what God has given you. Sign up today by contacting David & Gigi Wheeler (wheelergg@hotmail.com).

2) Be the Church membership class. There's a lot of new faces hanging around CCC these days, and we'd love to help get you connected to the family and learn why membership matters. Check out more on this class that meets over lunch each Sunday in February and get signed up today.
