"We often want more faith because we want more glory." - D.J. Williams
Every once in a while a friend hits you in the gut in a good way. This truth D.J. shared did just that. I'm often guilty of thinking that God would or could do more if I believed more. D.J. exposed the fact that the root of that is likely a desire for more glory for myself. Jesus made sure and get the message across when my d-group reading included this in John 7:18: "The one who speaks on his own seeks his own glory."

The Embry's made it to Nairobi! With all the craziness that happened with flights being shut down, things got a little uncertain for a moment, but Mike and Sarah made it to Nairobi with no problems. Mike reports this morning he's already driving on the left side of the road!
God's doing some cool stuff in Thailand. Last week, I got to spend time with Justin Ross, the founder and director of Sparrow Missions. He and Ashley have been in Thailand starting new work there. Getting to hear about all that God is doing there to make Jesus' name known was inspiring! The spread of the gospel to every tongue, tribe, and nation is an inspiring thing to see - and Jesus invites us to GO be a part of it!
Kept Calm now Carry on. Yesterday wrapped up our In the Son, Together series. On August 11, we'll re-launch Community Groups and start a new series through 1 Thessalonians entitled Kept Calm now Carry on. We'll take 8 weeks to explore the letter from Paul together and see who Jesus steadies us, protects us, keeps us whole, and brings peace into our lives so that we can carry on the mission until he returns.
We've been working on the materials to help us navigate this series and that has me even more amped up! As we continue to join Jesus in going out to make disciples, all kinds of barriers, distractions, and hardships have and will come; but being reminded that Jesus is the keeper of our whole spirit, soul, and bodies steadies us and allows us to carry on with our mission and God given purpose.
