Wells, yesterday was MONEY!
I know I'm not alone in this feeling: It's been INCREDIBLE to have the Webb's back at CCC! Wells' baptism was icing on the cake yesterday! It was MONEY! Wells, you won the game as you sunk in the waters of baptism yesterday! Keep going man!
I'm celebrating with Lanham today for graduating the program at Awake!
I love our crew of guys from Awake who come and invest relationally in our CCC church family! Sunday I was honored to pray with Lanham as he celebrated his graduation from the program! What a win! Keep joining Jesus man!
EDGE students blew my mind last night!
Over 40 students came in the doors last night and then were sent back outside on mission as EDGE restarted last night! I'm pumped for what God is doing in student's lives here in Shelbyville - and I'm so grateful we get to see a tiny piece of that at CCC!
"If I wanted people to emulate the actions we value, I had to invest time in them."
Community Groups are re-launching this week and the group Katelyn and I are a part of got off to a great start last night! We were talking about the power of being the first follower and discipling other people when someone in the group affirmed another member of the group for modeling this in their business. I asked what principles he used to create that culture and the gem of wisdom above came out: "If I wanted people to emulate the actions we value, I had to invest time in them."
There's discipleship in a nutshell. We have so much to learn from one another if we'll slow down and be in community.
Living in Kenya
I had the honor of jumping on a video call with our friends Mike & Sarah in Kenya this morning! We talked (and prayed) about all kinds of things! I loved hearing about "life" in Kenya; how driving works, water filtration systems, Kenyan winter, fresh guacamole from the yard, Kenyan technology, how banking works in Kenya, stuff takes longer to cook at high altitudes and more. But more than that was this oozing joy for how many details the Lord had worked out in their transition - it was so cool!
How the Lord uses toilets
Did you know there's a team of people who come in and clean the building on Monday mornings?? They are a HUGE blessing (we actually need 2-4 more people for the team!)!! Yesterday the team was texting about their schedule for the rest of the year and the conversation light-heartedly turned to "the appeal" of cleaning toilets.
Then this came through. It was just an incredible reminder of how the Lord uses everything to prepare our hearts and lives for an eternity with him:
"The Lord specifically told me to serve out of the spotlight and humble myself to clean the bathrooms. So the bathrooms are the first thing I clean."
The power of the gospel
Yesterday's passage was an encouraging challenge as we opened Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians! I loved getting this commentary from one of our members in a text yesterday afternoon.. it doubles down on just how powerful the gospel is!
What happened among the Thessalonians? Not 1 written book of the New Testament [to study], no literature, no pastors, teachers, elders. No youth programs, nursery care. No building, budgets. No spiritual music. They were convinced they were lost, heard the truth, believed & turned their homes into houses of God. When you’re convinced of the life, death & resurrection & you tell His story, the kingdom lights up!
Let's light up the kingdom this week, Christ Community!
