Top of Mind Monday

Foggy mornings and straining to see.

It's foggy this morning. Like good ol' fashioned hard to see foggy. You don't travel to close to anyone's tailgate and you strain to see further ahead than what seems possible. That thought this morning brought me back to the end of yesterday's gathering as we sang "What a Beautiful Name" together. Y'all, that was a powerful moment!

One of the things running through my head in that moment was the curiosity of how the Spirit was leading us, or better said, where he was leading us. I asked you to put that question before the Lord with open hearts and open hands yesterday. And though I have no doubt there will be a bit of a foggy morning as we seek his answer, the light of Jesus will make it clear in his timing.

Let's keep straining to see.

In times of disaster, I'm thankful for the Cooperative Program.

The horrific reports from the devastation of Helene continue to roll in. Some of you have asked how CCC can help. And it's always encouraging to tell people we already are. And at the same time, we'll be in consistent communication if additional needs that we can meet pop up.

Southern Baptists have worked together to provide disaster relief since 1967. That cooperation has grown and been funded by something called the Cooperative Program. 4% of everything given at Christ Community goes directly to "CP." In Kentucky, that effort is headed up by some close friends (and even members) of Christ Community. If you want to give directly to the Hurricane Helene relief efforts, you can do so HERE.

It's always cool when the Lord sets people apart for ministry.

I don't often get the chance to visit other churches, but last night I was able to attend an ordination service at Shelby Christian Church here in town. Ashton Davis, a young man I've had the opportunity to spend time with, invited me to the service. It's so encouraging to spend times with other parts of the body! Especially when they're setting apart and commissioning people to be on mission for the gospel!

Grateful to be on mission with Ashton, Shelby Christian, and so many other people here in Shelby Co.

In 2019, there were 1 BILLION LESS people in extreme poverty than there were in 1990.

That's a staggering number! Extreme poverty was cut in half over nearly 30 years! That was just one finding found near the end of a report given at the 4th Lausanne Congress that strives to bring Christians together to reach the lost. I'd encourage you to check out this article on some of the other insights from global Christianity including this one: Today, more than 40 percent of the world has not yet been evangelized. Yet about 97 percent of the current global total of 450,000 Christian missionaries are sent to people who already have access to the gospel.

Preach strong Leon!

Leon Leonard, long time CCC member is headed to prison this weekend - to preach the gospel! Pray for him - and encourage him if you get the chance! Leon, thanks for continually joining Jesus in going out to make disciples.

ONE LAST THING...
