The last part of my weekly Top of Mind Monday post is almost always the title.. As I look back over this list the theme that seems to catch it all is A Body that Moves and Prays. If we, Christ Community, can be that, God will get a lot of glory! Let's GO!
In case you like to nerd out on research like me...
Here's the article on the 5 Hidden Dangers of Consumerism in the Church that I referenced yesterday. There's a link in the article to just the results of the study. While consumerism's affect on the church is nothing new, it can be eye opening to recognize it's implications. It's amazing how quickly trying to get what we want slows us down from actually getting what God wants for us.
Which of the 5 Dangers referenced do you wrestle with the most?
A Dream Team of Deacons
Honoring great leaders is always enjoyable! Celebrating a job well done for our pioneer, pacesetting dream team of deacons yesterday was a joy!
What's even better is that many of them are now moving (Key word.. healthy things prioritize movement) deeper into areas of serving where they are called and/or gifted. That's exciting for our church body!
What's also exciting is how the current Deacon team is already planning to serve and care for the body well. More to come!
God continues to arrange the body according to his plans.. more on that from 1 Corinthians 12 at this weekend's Gathering!
What relational seeds are you planting now?
Wayne and Veronica Cummings were Community Group leaders over 7 years ago before moving closer to family. They got to stop in and worship with us yesterday and something really cool happened - the people who were relationally invested together in that group circled up, took pictures, smiled, embraced and enjoyed time together.
It was sweet fruit of spiritual seeds sown almost a decade ago!
It made me want to ask the question of myself and others, "What relational seeds are you planting now?"
Students are the church NOW
I often call our collective teen and kid ministries NEXT gen. But yesterday reminded me that students are the church NOW! Whether it was siblings leading siblings, teens learning to tell their spiritual stories and lead worship, or students starting discipleship groups to reach their friends, the NEXT gen is the church NOW! They are on the MOVE!
Let's keep investing in them, church.
How can we pray for you?
I continue to be thankful and humbled by our Pastor/Elder teams leadership in prayer. Listening to them pray for our church on Sunday mornings is powerful! They are truly praying the way forward.. not just from a high level, but for people and individuals as each of us learn to walk with Christ more closely.
If we can be praying for you, your ministry to others, or anything at all, please let us do it! Give us the opportunity to pray! You can contact any of the pastor/elders personally to share those.
