Celebrating with Naomi!
As I was praying for Naomi this week, I flipped back to the book of Ruth where it tells us that Naomi in Hebrew means "pleasant." How "pleasant" it was to celebrate with Naomi and the Scarborough family as she gave witness to her faith in Jesus through baptism! I loved hearing of her boldness in sharing about Jesus with her gymnastics teacher - GO girl!
5th Grade Takeover
Our 5th grade Community Kids have made a big time impact on the lives of their peers this year as they lead out in a variety of ways on Sunday mornings, but yesterday they completely took over! With their families watching on, they led worship, shared the gospel, initated crafts and activities and more.
We're praying for you guys as you finish elementary school and prepare to step into middle school - Shine bright!
Fearing God and church in the summertime
Let me share a couple of resources that have sharpened me recently. I referenced in my sermon a podcast on "A Positive Look at the Fear of God" from Jeff Iorg. It's been a helpful reminder to me of both the principle of fearing God, but also making sure that I'm pursuing God's original design in my life.
Another one is an article by Scott Sauls on "Church in the Summertime?" As we come up on Memorial Day weekend, the weather warms up, and school lets out, I myself needed this reminder on how gathering changes my week - even in the summer.
