Life is a series of beginning again.

I know of no other month on the calendar that captures that more than May! Even this idea of worship-filled, redemptive living that Kenny preached about is all about daily beginning again. Starting new days with new mercy. Offering yourself each day as living sacrifices. Choosing to join Jesus in this next season of life - whatever the next season is!

There are so many graduations, celebrations, and transitions to step into, and that's true for the body at Christ Community right now too! As I call them to mind, pray with me that in these folks "next" season they'd begin again by joining Jesus.

  1. We sent graduates and celebrated the year in EDGE! I love how Kenny calls students to the same mission: to GO. It even shines in "sending" graduates. They are on to new seasons and new places, and we're praying they shine for Jesus in those places. Congratulations to our seniors!

All the teens capped off a year of growth in EDGE with an "End of School Bash" out at the Gaithers! Thanks for hosting Chris & Katie! It was a fun night that propels our teens towards camp and summer programming. Keep up with EDGE students HERE.

  2. We empowered 5th graders! Every year in May, our 5th graders "takeover" Community Kids and lead their peers through a day of worship, teaching, and groups. It's AWESOME! Empowering our 5th graders on the way "out" sets them up to keep leading as they head into the scary unknowns of middle school. If you are a parent to one of those 5th graders, THANK YOU for continuing to invest in your growing pre-teen. They can't often tell you this, but they crave it. They're looking to you in these next couple years especially for cues on how to walk out your faith in a world that's.. not what God intended it to be. So celebrate your 5th grader as a child of God this week; and start pouring into them even more next week.

  3. We welcomed new deacons! This past week our covenant family affirmed 4 new deacons! Josiah Downey, Melissa Downey, Dan Duffala, and Heather Williams were all affirmed by a 97% vote. Pray for them as they continue to lead us by serving us and inviting us to serve one another. They've got a big job!

  4. We're sending the Embry's back. Several of you have gotten to meet or spend time with Mike & Sarah as they're "home" on vacation. Ask any worker who spends extended time overseas and you'll learn that "home" becomes confusing and can even make you start longing even more for the city that is to come. They return to Kenya this week, so let's be praying as they go.

  5. We're inviting you to be a part. I mentioned at the end yesterday that May is the one month of the year where we really push hard "from the front" for every one to get connected to one of our volunteer teams. Over the last few weeks as we've put a variety of leaders and people before us in the gathering, I've been reminded of a truth that is a HUGE part of the HEARTBEAT of Christ Community. A crowd celebrates the gifts of a few. A community requires the gifts of many.

Y'all. We aren't Christ CROWD Church. We're Christ COMMUNITY Church. We don't just need you to be a part to serve what we're doing. We need you to be a part because we desire to be a healthy COMMUNITY of Christ followers serving and loving together.

So take your next step. Text SERVE to 844-548-6405 to find a place to serve.
