Dear Christ Community,
Last week I sat and listened as Daniel Bright shared with other church leaders from around the state about how you, the people of Christ Community, were saying yes in the face of limiting beliefs and worshipping God on the other side of the transformation that happened in your life as a result of serving alongside of others.
It left me challenged to think more about limiting beliefs that I, and others, often hold..
I don’t have the money.
I don’t have the time.
I’m too old for that. (40 has made me think this one more than I care to admit..)
Someone else can do it better.
People probably won't show up. Nobody cares.
I've thought all of those at different times..
So often our brain gets filled with what we can’t do and we forget what God can do.
And then Love Shelbyville happened.
2 teen girls weren’t content to let residents in their nursing home rooms who couldn’t make it to the activity center go without a visit. So they hit every room.
One lady honestly confessed that it was hard trusting people who wanted to have a conversation about the gospel because they never came back. 2 CCC ladies made plans to be the exception.
One ministry that we haven’t served with in sometime had 17 people prayer walking around their building. Wonder what God might do with that??
Multiple people stepped up due to last second changes (The mission always requires flexibility because of fluidity!), and in ways that just made you realize God had been orchestrating pieces long before we had.
Multiple others learned about how the passions God has given them align with gospel opportunities with local ministries and are scheduling meetings with partners to begin serving outside of Love Shelbyville day commitments.
Field trips to share the gospel locally are in the works.
We had a team in New York City encouraging church planters who are pushing back darkness there in incredible ways.
By the end of the day, I’d learned of another upcoming baptism at CCC!
The mindset changed.
What can’t God do when I trust that He can?!?!
I love you, Christ Community. You encourage me to keep trusting in the good news I believe to be true: Jesus died for sinners that they might live for his glory and see it fill the earth as he sends us to every language, land, and people.
So only because I love you, CCC, let me turn the question towards you for a moment.
What limiting belief is ruling your life right now?
What might you be missing by not trusting in the hope and security we have in Jesus?

16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
