Dear Christ Community
While I missed walking through the streets and events of Shelbyville with you last week, I greatly enjoyed being able to spend a week with my brothers and their families. It was a sweet time of doing life together for a week.
But it almost didn’t happen!
We tracked hurricane Isaias very closely on Friday before driving down on Saturday. After ensuring that our destination missed out on major storm damage we left early Saturday morning.
The hurricane actually changed the weather we experienced for the week. Before the storm, we were predicted to have storms half of the week. The hurricane pulled all that through in one big bunch and left behind a perfect week of weather.
It caused me to reflect on several “storms” in my life and in the life of our church that have pulled the bad out and left behind something far better that we deserve.
Thank God for storms.
I’m always overwhelmed with gratitude when I return after a Sunday away; it gives me fresh eyes on all that people do to lead and serve our church body.
There’s not enough thank yous!
Right before we left, I had the absolute honor of baptizing Becky Cull! A bit of her story was shared while we were gone, but I cannot stop thinking about the Lord’s kindness to her and what an incredible story she’s living!
Just before that a few of us were able to celebrate with the Frazier family as they finalized their adoption! What a beautiful picture of the gospel..
Last week, we had a team serving with GAP in Eastern Kentucky - I can't wait to hear more!
Yesterday, Abby shared so beautifully about how the Lord never left her through seasons of doubt and rebellion. Talk about inspiring!
As I walked to my car yesterday, I learned that another CCC member had been sharing the gospel with a buddy at the gym and it had led to baptizing him in the cold tub! Disciplemaking!
Today, I was able to hear about some new found freedom that’s being found in a couple of simple steps of obedience. Doing little things that’s opening up huge heart change.
Christ Community, coming back home, tasting and seeing and hearing about the Lord’s work in your life makes me glad that I’m on a journey to a better city with you.
Keep joining Jesus.
Keep going outside your comfort zone.
Keep making disciples who make disciples.
Here, near, and far.
Go be the church.
Blake
