The cross.
Still thinking about the cross.
During the response team, someone shared with me that they had come across a picture of themselves this week from years earlier when they weren't walking with the Lord. He had been wearing a shirt that had Romans 12:21 on it.
21Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.
Sometimes I preach the message, and other times, the message gets preached to me. This was the latter.
Thank you, Jesus. For the cross. For conquering evil with good on the cross. And for inviting us to join you.
Launching Leaders
What started with Phyllis during next steps actually ended up spilling over into a super cool moment as several members of the early launch team at CCC got together for a reunion video shoot after church! (Teaser!)
I won't get into all of it here, but I'm so thankful for these leaders! And the fact that many of them are still here, and engaged, and leading is an incredible testimony of God's faithfulness to CCC!
So, to turn a phrase, we're absolutely in a season of growth where we need to be launching more new leaders into kids ministry, groups ministry, compassion ministries, and to the ends of the earth on mission. We want to be launching leaders. Our very best!
Honor those who not only launched the church, but continue to serve her.
Honor Jesus who went to the cross for you.

This weekend left me FULL
There are times when the weight of ministry seems too much to bear. Friday was one of those days for me. And yet, God put people who love me in my path to encourage me and help carry the load.
Saturday, I rested as I spent time celebrating my parents who are retiring. It was a good day.
Sunday, to worship together with you all, to hear Rebecca's story and the challenge to surrender, to hear the stories of how God is changing your families, to be invited to pray with and for you about the future, and to be able to do it alongside my family and friends.. goodness!
It left me full. Thank you, Jesus.
And now I'm ready to go!
Love Shelbyville
This is where the rubber meets the road! Where the church goes out!
So sign-up, invite some friends, and lets go love Shelbyville.
BONUS: We plan to kick the morning off with a baptism! Don't be late!
What's Next?
Yesterday, ended our journey through the gospel of Luke! So what's next in our preaching and teaching?
As we start August, we'll do a short 2 week series called Reverberations that will refocus our heart for making disciples and what that even means.
Then, August 17, we'll begin our fall series entitled "The City that is to Come." This vision series will span across scripture from Genesis to Revelation while walking through several Psalms of Ascent. More on that in the weeks to come!
For now..
GO BE THE CHURCH!
