Memorizing Scripture during stressful workouts

Billy (and Brittany) have been consistent encouragers throughout their time at Christ Community and I appreciated hearing Billy tell his story yesterday! I sat up in my chair a little bit when Billy shared about being discipled to memorize Scripture while in the middle of intense workouts! Our Community Group had some fun conversation about it last night, too!

While I don't think I'm going to be picking up the habit, our group was inspired to memorize some Scripture together and I can't wait to do that together! When I have memorized Scripture in the past, I've found it to be a practice that brings peace and mental clarity in ways I would not have imagined.

I'd challenge you to think about giving it a try!

Even little hands make light work

I loved the moment between Kaleb and Kenny during next steps for a ton of reasons - most of all the joy and laughter that we shared! Kenny is always good about calling us in together to serve one another and our community well. When we live and serve on mission together, there's a joy and an ease that just can't quite be explained. It's almost like God meant for his church to operate in that way!

Be the Church Class

The next step Kenny DIDN'T get to is that after Love Shelbyville Day on January 25, we're hosting a luncheon for anyone who's wanting to take a next step in being part of the body at Christ Community. Lunch and childcare provided. You can get more details and RSVP here.

The gospel works

I know this one feels a bit generic, but I can't quite express how incredible it is to watch God work on and through his people by the power of the gospel. We can fall into this subtle false belief that the gospel is just for salvation. Y'all, it's so much more.

It heals broken hearts.

It brings families together.

It reconciles relationships.

It comforts in the face of death.

It restores gratitude in my heart.

And that was just a few things from this week..

The gospel works.

2 Corinthians 4:10 (CSB)

10We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be displayed in our body.
