It's been a joy to meet and learn the the stories of the Copeland family, and to celebrate Shelby Grace's baptism together with them yesterday was sweet! Welcome to the CCC body of believers!
As I begin to pray and reflect on Shelby Grace's baptism this morning, I realized what a perfect name she has for the community God has her in! Shelby Grace.. may you extend GRACE in, to, and through SHELBY County as you join Jesus in going out to make disciples..

The body of believers continues to be strengthened here at Christ Community by the people God is bringing to it! It was exciting to affirm and welcome the Lloyds, Amy Cook, Kalie Duffala, and the Doolittles as new members!
3 Reasons to be at Annual Dinner
This coming Sunday evening at 5:30 is our annual dinner and meeting. Come! Bring a side! In case you need some more prompting to commit, here's 3 reasons why..
1) If we're a body, the eye can't say to the hand, I don't need you. As we move forward, we trust one another to make decisions on how to live out the mission together, but it's important that we keep in step. Sunday night gives us the chance to do that.
2) As we grow, these are the kinds of opportunities where you get to know those new faces you may have not met yet! How many times have you wanted to share a meal with someone you've met or heard tell their story and you just can't find the time? Sunday is a chance to do that!
3) Understanding what's happening in our body of believers at large helps you to be healthier and more prone to grow in your own relationship with the Lord. You know those guys that have huge upperbodies and chicken legs? It's like the legs were never quite clear on what the workout plan was. When we come together to celebrate and think about the next season of ministry together, you give yourself the chance to know what kind of workouts are coming for the body you are a part of.
Into the Mystery
Someone passed me another song about mystery. "Into the Mystery" by Needtobreathe carried some of those same themes we've been talking about of the foolishness of the gospel and faith in Jesus that are power and wisdom and strength for those who believe. If you're a music person, check it out!
Why Gospel Unity Matters So Much
This first month of 1 Corinthians right before Christmas has at times felt repetitive and almost out of place as we talk about gospel unity. (Some might even call it foolish.. )
But gospel unity matters so much for us at Christ Community right now.
When we dive back into 1 Corinthians after Christmas, the letter is going to dive deep into the nuts and bolts of being healthy, gospel-centered, local church. Church discipline, sexual immorality, settling disputes, marriage, freedom vs. submission, what happens when we gather together, spiritual gifts, and more.
I might have also just made the list of "Things Churches like to Disagree on."
As we venture into new adventures at Christ Community, may we keep coming back to our foolish unity in the mystery of the gospel of Christ. And not just coming back to it, but clinging to it along the way.
