This morning I listened to a sermon preached by Brad Sturgill in Chile. There was a line that's tying together a lot of things I'm reflecting on this Monday:
"The closer we get to Jesus the more aware of our own imperfections we become."
Sending in June
Hearing from the Chile team Sunday was just the beginning of hearing from multiple teams we sent in the month of June! When we hear from those who say yes to going, it's a reminder that Jesus is already "outside the camp" and asking us to join him there. It's one way we get closer to Jesus. And I'm sure if you take any of those folks up on that coffee, they'll tell you more about how saying yes increased their awareness of their own perfections. Jesus teaches us so much when we join him in going.
Daniel Bright: Our candidate for the Missions & Admin Team Leader position
I was excited to announce on behalf of the Search Team and the Pastor/Elders our recommendation of Daniel Bright for the open staff position leading Missions and Administration! Our covenant members will have a vote of affirmation for him this coming Sunday, July 12. That process has been an encouraging one for our leadership!
CCC Students attend KBC Student Worship Camp
This past week, Jordan Williams and Emma Moreno attended the Kentucky Baptist Convention Student Worship Camp! This camp invests in and trains students with musical gifts as they step into leading roles in their local churches. It's a great part of the cooperation we have with churches all across the state!
What a blessing to be raising up leaders who can help us move closer to Jesus in worship!

Come to the Bats game Thursday!
Another way to get closer to Jesus is to spend time with his people! Let's do that together this week at the Bats game in Louisville!
Grab your tickets HERE and we'll see you there.
Walking Early
I've been trying to walk more and the last few weeks have been.. HOT. Because of the heat, I've tried to get at least something in earlier in the day. I always feel better when I'm moving early! The longer in the day I wait to get started, the harder it is to actually motivate myself to go do it.
It's reminded me how I often have to reset that rhythm in my walk with the Lord, too.
When I get out of the rhythm of spending time in Scripture and prayer early in the morning, it becomes harder to actually stop and spend time doing that throughout the day. If I spend time with the Lord early, really spending time getting near him, it changes the way I depend and walk with him the rest of the day.
Walk early. Get closer to Jesus.
The inconvenience of a closed bridge
Today, the bridge on Main Street just around the corner from the church officially closes for the next several months.
Not gonna lie, it's a hassle for myself and any of the rest of us who usually take that way to church.
As I considered it this morning, it made me think about how God uses us to be a bridge to the life giving message of the gospel so that people can come to faith in Jesus.
And it convicted me that when I'm not actively sharing my faith by including Jesus in my everyday conversations, I'm like a closed bridge - I'm making people go the long way to get to Jesus instead of helping them get close to him.
1 bridge in Shelbyville is closed right now, let's hold each other to keeping the bridge to Jesus open where we live, work, and play.
Go be the church.
