Celebrating with Baker & Bennett Burgin!
It has been and is a joy to watch these Burgin boys grow up! And now they're brothers in Christ! Baker and Bennett, keep chasing Jesus down the trail of life.. and as you keep casting those fishing lines, remember he's called you to be fishers of men.
Matt & Caytie, keep honoring the Lord with your lives! You're a blessing to many and I pray the Lord continues to bless you as you bless him!
"We're not responsible to create the miracle, only carry it." - Kenny Mattingly
I'm super thankful for the heart of Kenny Mattingly. And the above line was a good reminder to me of something I needed to hear. I can get so caught up in trying to make things happen, that I fail to carry well what Jesus has already asked me to obediently do: Love him and love my neighbors.
It also pushes me back to the heart of Christ Community. Lots of people like to "Go outside," getting uncomfortable and serving in a variety of ways. But joining Jesus makes all the difference. Am I going outside with and for myself or with and for Christ? Whatever he gives us and calls us to is worth carrying.
This week, I'm resolved to not jump first to my to-do list, my Christmas shopping list, or even my honey-do list. Instead, I want to willingly join Jesus.
Thanks for the timely word, brother!
Thanks, too, for so many who are living it out in front of me..
I think about the ladies who gathered for a Christmas party that was incredibly focused on missions.
I think about Daniel & Derrick encouraging us with how God is moving and inviting us to Chile.
I think about our local partners who are staying right on the front lines as we move towards Christmas.
I think about so many of you who are asking questions about mission trips, learning to share your faith, and realigning your lives with gospel focus.
Carrying the miracle of the gospel..
Valuing Friendship during Christmas
This weekend has been a good reminder to me that amidst the hustle and bustle of Christmas, I often neglect friendships. While the culture might shame me into thinking I need to buy gifts for everyone, the Spirit invites and reminds me that presence matters most.
While I'm hustling through a plethora of calendar items that tempts me to pick relationships back up in January, simply taking a few minutes to call/text/have a conversation with a friend is not only kind, but valuable for my own soul.
Christmas plans don't take away our need to be known by one another.
So swipe over to your messages and check on a friend. Tell them how grateful you are. And share a verse you're praying for them today. It might just be the best gift you could give..
