Spring Break in Shelby County brings a lot of travel for many families. Whether across the state, to a coastal beach, or around the globe, many of us find ourselves on our way to somewhere. Gathering together this weekend brought me back to the reality that we're on our way there...

More on Mincaye

Steven Curtis Chapman (He's a Christian musician for you young folk!) was impacted by the story I shared yesterday during the sermon. In 2002, while touring, he helped to spread the story originally written down in the book Through Gates of Splendor by Elisabeth Elliot. He would tell the story we shared and then introduce Steve Saint and Mincaye to share even more. It's a pretty cool kingdom moment that continues to inspire us to go and love!

The Privilege of Partners and Sending

3 John 6 (CSB)

6They have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on their journey in a manner worthy of God,

One of God's graces to Christ Community that has deeply affected me is the privilege he's given us to form many partnerships! It was great to hear about one of the longest standing ones in Sparrow Missions yesterday and the relatively new work happening in Thailand.

It was also exciting to hear that our Greece team landing!

And then to pray for our Eastern KY team headed to GAP!

This verse from 3 John reminds me that it's our job as a church that sends to send them in a manner worthy of God. We're called to do our very best in preparing people to go spiritually, encouraging them, and praying for them to be strengthened and equipped for the work!

We're on our way there..

A Body full of Life... Extends Life in Jesus.

is a body that loves well. Loving God. Loving people one person at a time.

When we turn church into a task to do or an obligation to keep, the life gets sucked out of it. That's important to remember as we invite people to join us this weekend for Easter. Your neighbors and family are going to be way more open to an invitation this weekend. Invite them!

But remember you're inviting them to life in Christ - not obligation or ritual. Love those you invite well!

We're on our way there...

WHERE??

The City that is to Come

Remember last fall when we dug deep into that vision of the city that is to come? That city where we'll be together with every tongue, tribe, and nation at the throne of God?!?

While all of us who believe in Christ alone for salvation are all adventurous tentdwellers on the journey to get the city of our King, it's so easy to get sidetracked with our own adventures.

The Spirit has been calling my heart back to that city recently. A journey is always easier when you have the destination in mind.

This week, Holy Week, I'm reminded that Jesus made the journey to Jerusalem so that we could make our journey to his holy city. As we reflect on Jesus' journey this week, may we keep our eyes on the city that is to come, the city of our King.

We're on our way there.
